Fordtal Road, Allington Lock,Beefeater Restaurants has undergone a revamp in recent years, undergoing a complete change from the traditional image of Beefeater and the new look is warm, modern and stylish. Once inside, sit back, relax and enjoy your meal in one of the new leather booth-style seating areas and enjoy food from the specialist char grill at the heart of the Grill Restaurant Menu.
considering it's a chain restaurant, the food is very good! we'd either walk up the river path or take the river boat, visit at the farm next door first, kids love it there, worth a visit in its own right, and then up to the malta for cosy dining, we sat on one of the houses, and had to call out for a waitress as you tend to be overlooked, but a great dining experience all the same!
I was never a fan of this place, but recently it got a must needed refurb and its looking modern and fresh now. The Malta has a pub downstairs where you can either sit outside near the river, or you can sit indoors and have a drink. The food in the restaurant is of really high quality and the menu has a wide range of choice. The best thing about the Malta Inn is you can make a day of it there. You can get the boat into the town when the weather is nice, and then sail back and enjoy a nice drink outside whilst the kids play in the childrens play area outside. The downfall of this restaurnat are the disgusting toilets.

Rubbish food, rubbish service, rubbish, will never eat here again. We were also accused of incorrectly paying, even though we had counted out the cash and one couple paid by card. Most embarrassing to be chased through the restaurant by a waiter shouting out we owed money (was only £5) but I am convinced this was pocketed first cos we had worked it all out previously.Food was dreadful, bulk ordered and warmed up to order in my opinion.Considering how full the restaurant was I am surprised they are trading so well as our food and service was dreadful, maybe we were unlucky!!
