60 Princes Avenue, Walderslade,
Princes Avenue Osteopathic Clinic was founded in 1992 moving to the site of the old police sub-station (its current site) in 2000. Jean Hopkins (nee Miss Jean Graham) built up the clinic which has steadily risen to become one of the area’s top clinics for pain management. “Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.” (GoSC website, 2011). Osteopathy was initially used to help prevent disease. Nowadays people come to see an osteopath mainly to help ease their back pain but people used to go and see an osteopath to increase the whole body's natural vitality and health which gives the body a better chance of coping with whatever life throws at it and less likely to suffer illness. Osteopathy is a preventative therapy and as such people often find that they benefit from regularly seeing an osteopath (every 3 - 4 months) but even if you choose not to, we don't just treat 'bad backs'. The following list represents a sample of the symptoms and conditions that people suffer with that osteopathy can help with: Arthritic pains; Rheumatism Back / neck pains; Sports injuries; Digestive problems; "Sciatica"; Leg / knee and arm / wrist pain; Frozen shoulder; Pregnancy pains; Colicky symptoms (baby); Headaches; Asthma; Repetitive strain; Period pains. This list is not exhaustive and we can help with much more.
