At last it looks like we can say goodbye to the dark nights and short days of winter. It's not that I don't like winter, (great for winter walks with my two black labradors) taking time to notice the beautiful silhouttes made by the bare branches of the trees not to mention the patterns the frost makes on windows and pathways! - Lots of textures lots of inspiration!Spring must be the most cheerful season of the year with the promise of warmer days and lots of spring bulbs waiting to burst into colour - a time of optimism and looking forward to the days ahead. It is like this every year for me, when the new selection of spring flowers becomes available. There are so many beautiful flowers available that are unique to spring, in fact not all of the selections are actually flowers but include stems of blossoms like forsythia and cherry blossom, purple and white heads of alliums and the lovely delicate stems of christmas roses - otherwise known as helebores. Children and sweet shops come to mind just thinking of these. Spring Brides can also have a great choice of beautiful seasonal flowers. Tulips are a natural choice, but handtieds with a selection of ranunculus, hyacinths, lily of the valley and anemones are all beautiful and some even scented. Simple handtieds of geranium scented narcissus also look great just on their own simply bound on the stems in a couple of places. If you are planning a spring wedding we would love to hear from you - enjoy the weather and happy Easter to everyone.
In this last week before Mothers Day, we are busily planning what delights we can offer our Customers for Mothers Day. I have to say, I am in love with the beautiful range of tulips that are available at the moment. They come in all colours, many with frills and double flowers, the striped ones (which are my current favourites) develop their colour and change over a few days. Did you know that tulips are the only flowers that carry on growing even after they have been cut? Thats why you hear some people say their tulips have drooped - chances are that they just need a little trim back. Personally I quite like the droopy look - It has its own kind of charm. We are offering a lot of tulips next week, they look great in handtieds and mix with other spring flowers like hyacinths and paper white narcissus, ranunculus and freesia beautifully. As a finishing touch why not ask us to pop on a pretty sisal bouquet frame. It makes all the difference! - Until next week.
